Wherever we turned, we couldn't help but crane our necks upward toward an amorphous blend of black and grey and white, like billowing silk in the wind. Plumes that quaked in the sky like gaseous plates breaking against one another, meshing and coagulating, thunderously forming new continents and new seas.

Some of us closed our eyes in fear and others opened them wide in wonder. We held hands and thought about how fleeting our time is.

Those that closed their eyes opened them again only when the rumbling had ceased and the wind had abated. What was once was gone, but had moved on to some new place. Everything was changed and followed a singular trail of alteration.

And in the wake, smouldering ashes...
